New Super

Hive was nearly full, so I wanted to put on a new super before going camping. That gave me one day. Not One Direction, can’t stand that. (So that people know what I am talking about in 3 months when 1D are a distant memory, like flares, the plague, and the Great War, 1D are a tepid insipid manufactured boy band). I bought the new super kit (doesn’t come with spandex outside undies?) from Ecroyds, and nailed the frames together – I was putting the wire in the frames, and half way through ran out of wire. Another trip to Ecroyds. D walks in and states “excuse me, we ran out of wire.”, and the man there cracks up laughing. I now have wire for another 400 frames. Hmmm.

Well, all frames wired, waxed, box painted with undercoat and topcoat, and dried overnight. Put the box on this morning, on a rainy day – not ideal I know. Now there are two full depth brood boxes, a queen excluder (seems to be doing its job, wonder if it would work at kings cross, allow the workers in and out, and trap all the queens?), and 3 3/4 depth honey supers on top.

  1. Have a great camping trip. Wish I could have come with you. Can I get some Honeycomb off of you when you next raid your hive??
    Luv Aunty Wendy xx

  2. Thanks Wendy, I suppose I could turn a frame into comb. It is very yum. I’m looking at extracting late February.
